FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

What tire is affected by this exchange program?

205/75R17.5 Conti Hybrid LS3 with the DOT serial numbers HW96 F7T9 2714 to 2615. The tires have been sold predominantly in Europe, both to original equipment manufacturers and – to a lesser degree – into the replacement market.

How do I check whether the tires on my truck are affected?

Please check the lettering on the side wall of your truck tires

  • the tire brand: Continental
  • the product line and name: Conti Hybrid LS3
  • the size: 205/75R17.5
  • the DOT serial numbers: HW96 F7T9 2714 to 2615

The last four digits of the DOT serial number indicate the production period (week/year). Tires between 2714 (27th week of 2014) and 2615 (26th week of 2015) are covered by this voluntary exchange program.

Only if the exact combination of these four factors is given do you need to have the tire exchanged. Please note: This steer tire may be mounted on all axles.
Tire Identification

I have a respective tire on my truck or in stock. What do I have to do now?

You should contact Continental Customer Service Tires in your market directly. Contact details can be found here. Affected tires should be replaced as soon as possible.

What costs do I have to bear for the tire exchange?

Continental covers the costs for both the replacement tires and their installation. See also question number 5 for the duration of this free-of-charge program.

When will the exchange program start and for how long does it run?

Continental has already started the voluntary tire exchange program and affected tires should be replaced as soon as possible.
We guarantee a free-of-charge exchange until March 31, 2016, irrespective of the more limited legal requirements that are in place. As of April 1, 2016, we will reimburse the respective tires based on the remaining tread depth plus a lump sum for mounting.

What is the procedure if no alternative Continental tire is available for the exchange?

We at Continental do everything possible to ensure each and every customer gets an alternative tire out of our portfolio. If for specific reasons this may not be possible, an adequate tire of another premium brand will be offered on the same conditions as stated above.

Why are you having these tires replaced?

Market feedback indicates that in a few exceptional cases the carcass cords pulled through the inner liner. This may lead to sudden pressure loss. Continental has not received any reports of personal injuries in connection with this condition. The exchange program is being initiated to avoid any potential risk to road users.

What about the safety of other Continental tires?

The Continental brand stands for premium tires. Continental tires are developed and produced according to the highest quality standards. The safety of our customers and other road users is always our top priority. The findings mentioned above are restricted to the specific article and do not affect other tires of the Continental brand.

Have there been any injuries or accidents?

No, we are not aware of any personal injuries or accidents.
