In the summer tire test recently published by Tyre Reviews in the UK, the PremiumContact 6 from Continental proved best in test. The tire on test was the bestselling 205/55 R16 size for compact and mid-range cars.
In all, the experts tested 12 models of tire from European, Asian and American manufacturers in wet and dry conditions, using a Golf 7 as the test vehicle. The Continental summer tire was commended for its excellent grip and its sporty handling in the dry, delivering the shortest braking distance on dry asphalt, while also coming to a standstill in a short distance in the wet. In the PremiumContact 6, Continental’s engineers have developed a product that combines a high level of safety with short braking distances. One focus in the development of the PremiumContact 6 was creating a tire that provides precision handling across almost all models of car.
Tracey Mortimer, Marketing Director at Continental GB said: “We are thrilled that the PremiumContact 6 has won the Tyre Reviews summer tire test. The PremiumContact range has been delivering excellent test results for many years now, showing consumers that Continental ranks among the leading premium tire manufacturers in tests.” The PremiumContact 6 is suitable for a wide range of vehicles from mid-range models to SUVs and is available in sizes from 15 to 22 inches.
Also in the test line-up was the RainSport 5 from rain tire brand Uniroyal. Up against international competition, the RainSport 5 came fourth and was awarded a “recommended” rating. It finished a clear first in the straight aquaplaning test, returning a wet braking distance two meters shorter than the nearest competitor. Uniroyal forms part of the Continental Group. The RainSport 5 is available in a wide range of sizes from 15 to 21 inches. Full details of the tire test are available at www.tyrereviews.co.uk.
