What do I have to do if I have affected tires?

Affected tires will be replaced by the tire dealer where you have purchased the tires. In case of questions, please visit our page for more information or contact the local organizations named on the website for details.

Will all dimensions mentioned above be replaced?

Yes, tires of the dimensions and DOT-codes stated above will be replaced.

What about tires subject to the exchange and bought in another country than Sweden, Norway, Finland and Estonia?

If you feel uncertain, that your tires could be potentially affected, please contact your local tire dealer for a check. The tires will be exchanged also in other countries if they were bought in Sweden, Norway, Finland and Estonia. The same conditions apply as for the exchange in the four countries.

Were the affected tires sold in other countries like Russia, Belarus, Austria, Switzerland or Baltic states other than Estonia?

No. The affected tires were delivered only to Sweden, Norway, Finland and Estonia. If you feel uncertain, that your tires could be potentially affected, please contact your local tire dealer for a check.

When will this exchange program start and for how long will it run?

Our voluntary exchange program started on February 5, 2021. We have informed the national authorities and are in touch with our dealers to implement the program. The program will run for an indefinite period so that tires can also be exchanged at a later date (see also item “Costs”). Nevertheless, we strongly recommend that you check the tires on your car before you use it again. The tires concerned must be exchanged as soon as possible.

What costs will be incurred?

Continental will credit the full purchase price of the replacement tire (including costs for mounting, balancing etc. if applicable) for all exchanges made until December 31, 2021.

After December 31, 2021, the compensation will be based on the currently valid version of the Continental warranty regulation.

Why are you having these tires replaced?

Due to a non-conforming production process, the tires could potentially have an instantaneous pressure loss with a possible negative effect on vehicle handling. To date, Continental has not received any reports of accidents or injuries in connection with this condition. The exchange program is being initiated voluntarily to avoid any potential risk to vehicle drivers and other road-users. The affected tires were delivered to customers in Sweden, Norway, Finland and Estonia.

What measures will you be taking to address the condition?

The applicable production procedure was updated immediately upon the discovery of the non-conformity. All other IceContact 3 tires have been produced properly.

Have there been any reports of accidents in connection with the affected tires?

To date, Continental has not received any reports of accidents or injuries in connection to the tires in scope of this exchange program.

What do I do if I have further questions about the program?

We have compiled further information including contacts of local tire dealerships on our internet page. Please contact your local tire dealer in case of further questions.
