Concept tire
ContiSense / ContiAdapt
At IAA 2017, Continental showcased two innovative technological concepts designed to enhance comfort and road safety.
ContiSense
ContiSense uses rubber-based sensors to continuously monitor the tread depth and temperature of the tire. This technology detects a possible tread puncture and notifies the driver immediately – much more quickly than previous systems.
ContiAdapt
ContiAdapt is a technology that is capable of adapting the tire contact surface by means of integrated micro-compressors. Thanks to an adjustable-width rim, four different combinations can be set for driving on wet, uneven, slippery or normal roads. A larger contact surface with reduced tire pressure ensures excellent grip on slippery roads.
Continental has merged both technologies in a single concept tire that adapts itself continuously to the road conditions and so always has the right “footprint.”
