Temperatures well below zero, gusts of snow and changeable weather conditions - these were the weather conditions for the Winter High Performance Event 2022. We sent our Continental drivers and the high-performance vehicles of our tuning partners to Lapland again this January to put the Continental WinterContact™ TS 870 P to the test.
Unlike Continental's other high-performance highlights, the tuners are not allowed to drive their vehicles over ice and snow themselves at this event. All vehicles were transported to the Finnish region in advance by our tuning department and tested there by our drivers. The Winter High Performance Event is not about the fastest track time, but about testing the winter tires. Among other things, the event tests how the various drive concepts affect the tires and what effect the weight of a vehicle has on grip and traction in snow and ice. As at the last Winter High Performance Event, special tracks have been prepared: a wide track, a handling course and a slalom course.
The WinterContact™ TS 870 P is our professional when it comes to high performance in the snow. Due to the deep and intelligently arranged parallel sipes, more snow is absorbed by the ground, resulting in better grip. This also enables controlled handling. In addition, the WinterContact™ TS 870 P has long wiping edges that ensure a shorter braking distance on frozen ground by draining water and slush extremely quickly. The WinterContact™ TS 870 P is available from 16 to 21 inches, making it an ideal tire for all vehicle classes
ABT, AC Schnitzer, APR, BRABUS, mtm, Speedart, delta4x4 and Startech were among the tuners in 2022 who entrusted us with their bolides and put them through the winter tire test in Finland. Now it's proven: The Continental WinterContact™ TS 870 P is made for the conditions in Finland. Thanks to better traction and an innovative rubber compound for increased grip, it defied ice, snow and sub-zero temperatures with ease.
The Continental Tuning team was supported by professional test drivers who steered the PS machines safely over the snowy winter landscape. Each vehicle went through the individual test sections, with handling, acceleration and also braking performance being tested in winter weather conditions - after all, reliable braking is particularly important in winter.
