German engineered performance for every winter situation.
Peace of mind while driving along a snowy road is not a coincidence: it’s more likely because of our S-GRIP pattern, designed for enhanced snow traction to keep you in control.
There are many reasons to stay at home in winter and two reasons to go wherever you want: On one hand: “PrecisionPlus” guarantees optimized handling on snowy ground. And on the other: “PowerSipes” is built to provide outstanding dry handling.
Equipped with our superior technologies, this tire takes you safely wherever you want to go and helps you stop immediately whenever you have to.
The German magazine Auto Zeitung has published their Winter Tire Test 2021. The tested tire size was 235/55 R18 104 V, test vehicle was a VW Tiguan.
The test was conducted by Auto Zeitung at the following proving grounds: Test World, Ivalo, Finland (snow tests) and Contidrom, Jeversen, Germany (wet & dry tests).
Rating for the WinterContact™ TS 850 P: Highly Recommended & Fuel Saving Recommendation
About the WinterContact™ TS 850 P:
+ Lowest Rolling Resistance
+ Drives safely on all surfaces
+ Strong in snow braking
+ Very safe driving behavior on the wet
+ Harmonious dry handling together with ESP System, safe and comfortable
- Traction on snow could be better
- Slightly higher Hydroplaning
The wet grip rating indicates how well the tire will perform in wet conditions, with performance graded from class A down to class E. A high grade means short braking distances on wet roads.
Reduced rolling resistance saves fuel and cuts CO2 emissions. Class A tires deliver the best fuel efficiency, with fuel consumption increasing for each subsequent class through to E.
This is the external rolling noise generated by the tire, measured in decibels. The label shows the noise level rated in classes from A to C.
In addition to these three label values, there are also pictograms − if applicable − relating to performance in severe snow conditions (3PMSF) and/or grip in icy conditions (the latter applies to passenger car tires only).
With the EU label generator, you can access the specific label values for your Continental tires.
